The days of super-thin, fine brows are over. It's time for thicker, shapely, and more full eyebrows. One of the best ways to stay on top of this new beauty trend is microblading.
What is microblading?
Microblading is a semi-perminent makeup treatment that uses a special pen to draw on individual strokes one by one, to simulate real hair, inserting pigment into the upper layers of skin.
Why choose microblading?
Microblading is perfect for those who want to fully reconstruct, define, cover gaps, or fill-in over plucked brows. Although there are plenty of ways you can perfect your eyebrows, the most natural looking brows are achieved with microblading.
The best part about the technique is that there is no downtime. Your new set of brows will be ready for a selfie immediately after the process.
Unlike eyebrow extensions, which you have to be careful about maintaining, microblading is low maintenance. After healing, you can rub them and enjoy swimming. No special care is required, except for a brief touch-up.
How long does the actual procedure take?
The first procedure should take about 2 to 3 hours. Believe it or not, much of that time is spent just on planning the procedure, deciding on the shape and color of the brow, and other details. If the planning is done properly, the actual procedure takes about an hour. The second session takes place after 4-6 weeks after the initial session. This session lasts about 1.5 – 2 hours. It is just for touch ups and to be sure that everything looks perfect.
When properly done, microblading generally lasts between 3 to 5 years, depending on the color of the skin, hair, the pigment that best matches your hair, as well as the creams and cleansers used.
How is microblading different from eyebrow tattooing?
In microblading, the aesthetician uses a pen filled with pigment to draw in the eyebrows rather than a mechanical device injecting dye, which cannot offer such fine strokes. Pigment has a thicker consistency, while ink is more watery in texture, because the ink is placed deeper in the skin, it tends to have more staying power. Unlike tattooing, with microblading there is no “leaking” of the pigment under the skin and the strokes look crisp and clear. Naturally, the pigment will exfoliate out of the skin over time, which will cause the pigment to lighten.
Why Aesthetic Skin & Laser Center?
The key to a successful treatment is knowing the exact spot in the upper dermis to place the pigment, it must be placed precisely for color retention. Too low and you won't be able to see the results, too high and the results won't last. Because we have our very own in house Aesthetician, Carissa Fox, who was trained at the Advance Microblading Academy, you can be assured that you are getting the best procedure available.
