Sculptra® Aesthetic

Sculptra® Aesthetic is used for restoring volume, improving facial contours and improving the quality of the skin. With Sculptra, microscopic particles of Poly-L-Lactic Acid (PLLA) are diluted in a suspension of sterile water, and then diffusely injected to reshape deflated facial contours. The particles of PLLA then act as stimulants to cells leading to the formation of new collagen.

Sculptra is administered by a Sculptra Aesthetic trained physician. It may require a series of three to five treatments which are generally performed every four to six weeks. Improvement in contour occurs gradually over two to six months, an advantage for those people wishing to avoid the obvious tell-tale overnight change in appearance. Proper use of Sculptra produces a youthful, pleasing facial contour in people with facial aging, wrinkling, and loss of facial fat.

Of note, Sculptra is not a filler.  The PLLA gradually completely disintegrates in the body, and as it does so, it stimulates collagen production. This is why the continued improvement from each treatment session can be seen for up to six months. Results can last more than 2 years since it builds one’s own collagen. Individual results and treatment regimens may vary, as is true of any cosmetic treatment.
