MICRONEEDLING

What is Microneedling and Why Should You Do It?

What if I told you that microneedling is currently the most powerful way to slow skin aging and smooth fine lines and wrinkles? This has been the experience of those who have had it – and why it is highly desired by those “in the know.”

The microneedling offered at Aesthetic Skin & Laser Center utilizes the most effective system on the market to date! It is known as Collagen P.I.N, and it is so versatile that it can treat a wide a range of concerns: acne scars, wrinkles, large pores, undesirable pigmentation – and it is safe to do almost anywhere on the body!

Sounds amazing, doesn't it? The Collagen P.I.N uses very fine short needles to trigger the body's wound healing response, thereby stimulating growth of new collagen and elastin, which is the key to new, youthful looking skin.

The Collagen P.I.N offers controlled depth of treatment and sterility that many other systems do not. Dermarollers, which are often marketed for home use, damage the skin because, on a microscopic level, rollers tear the skin and the needle depth is uncontrolled and unsterile – making for high risk and very painful treatments. Even if you could tolerate doing this procedure to yourself, due to the inferior quality of the needles and the system, the results, if any, would be unimpressive – pain no gain. In fact, all the other microneedling systems we looked at delivered inferior results.

With its ability to trigger the generation of both new collagen and elastin, just a few sessions of Collagen P.I.N. microneedling will noticeably reduce your fine lines, crow's feet, deep wrinkles, and pore size – resulting in an overall glow and more youthful looking skin. Since the Collagen P.I.N. uses the body's own natural healing mechanisms, the results are very natural.

What are the benefits of microneedling?

After a microneedling treatment, when your skin starts repairing itself, it activates your body's natural ability to produce more collagen and elastin, which provides firming and plumping that gives your skin a youthful texture and tone. Collagen P.I.N. microneedling can also improve the appearance of scars (surgical, acne or accidental), as well as stretch marks.

How is professional microneedling done?

The procedure is done by our highly trained medical aestheticians. The procedure starts with your face being anesthetized with a topical cream. The treatment can be tailored to your specific needs. After a treatment, you might notice redness and mild swelling, but these symptoms only last for two or three days; downtime is minimal. However, we can enhance the result by combining microneedling with various peels, which can result in 4–7 days of mild peeling, and quicker improvement of skin problems.

How many treatments will you need?

The number of sessions depends on the condition of your skin, but typically it’s recommended to have three to five treatments at 4–6 week intervals with maintenance treatments every 6-9 months.

What results can you expect to see from microneedling?

In our experience, you will have some redness immediately following the treatment. You will need to leave your face untouched for the first 12 hours, then you will start using the special products given to you in the microneedling post procedure kit. Generally, you will peel on day 3 and/or 4, and by day 5 or 6 you will notice a dewy, glowing complexion, and healthy plumping of your skin. Results will continue to improve over the next 3 to 6 months, as boosting collagen and elastin in the skin takes time. However, as with any treatments, there are individual variations.

Who should avoid microneedling?

Although microneedling can be used on all skin colors and skin types, you should avoid this treatment if you have an active skin infection, active acne, untreated rosacea, acute eczema or sunburned skin.
